Update: Canada Summer Jobs Funding

We welcome our two new summer staff:  Ava and Radhika

Ava Lanoway is a student at the University of British Columbia. She’s studying Political Science and is completing her first co-op term as our Administrative and Marketing Assistant. Her years of experience volunteering at a residential care facility and in retail sectors catered towards older adults will assist in understanding and furthering intergenerational connections in Vancouver. When she’s not working or studying you can find Ava at local concerts or on an early morning run! Ava is excited to join Volunteer Grandparents this summer and can’t wait to see what this experience brings.

Radhika Patel, our Program Developer will be going into her second year at UBC, where she is studying business. In the past she has volunteered with us, helping with submitting donation requests and updating the media section of our website. She thoroughly enjoyed her previous experiences volunteering at senior care home, Three Links Centre as a social volunteer, as well as tutoring elementary students in math and English. In her free time, Radhika enjoys reading YA novels and exploring Vancouver’s hidden gems. Having been in the Family Match Program for 14 years, Radhika understands firsthand how amazing and imperative connections between youth and seniors are and is thrilled to have the opportunity to work for the organization that gave her so much!
