Work Experience Opportunities Grant (WEOG)

Hello! I’m Dominique, and I’ve joined Volunteer Grandparents as a Community Outreach Assistant through a work experience placement supported by the United Way. I started in September and look forward to being part of the team over the coming months.

My background is in project management and administration. I enjoy organizing information and improving the systems that help programs run smoothly. Through this placement, I’m exploring a career in community nonprofit work, particularly programs that support older adults and immigrant seniors.

At Volunteer Grandparents, I’m especially interested in how programs work behind the scenes: how the team organizes information, coordinates volunteers and families, and supports people from their first inquiry onward. The Letters to Seniors program has already shown me how a simple, thoughtful gesture can create a meaningful connection. I look forward to contributing while learning how the team makes these programs work.
